Tonight I completed my 5th day of The Shift Shop with Beachbody, and it was rough. Not just the work out itself, but the immediate after.
See, I’ve been busting my butt the past 5 days. Keeping up with work outs, consuming my daily gallon of H2O, keeping a food journal (no unnecessary sweets for this little chick a dee!)
So tonight, upon the completion of my second workout of Strength 25 in this sequence,
……………….while I’m still shaky, and flushed, and feeling high on life for crushing my goals and staying consistent, ……
I decided to check my progress by stepping on the scale and taking measurements.
You guys can see where this is going. Five days. ONLY FIVE DAYS.
But after five days of eating healthy fare and ending my days ready to fall into bed due to a combination of good old fashion hard-working work-outs, where I’m literally shaking by the end,
…………in addition to my typical schedule of raising six kids and working from home…. no change.
I’m not down even an inch or a pound.
I was shocked!
I honestly just stood in the bathroom for a second, in front of the mirror, looking at the tape measure in my hand and the notes I had taken days ago and thought briefly,
Why am I even trying?
Followed quickly by,
Maybe I should just give up.
Maybe you’ve been here, too.
Where you’re so ready for change!
You want the results…..
the bigger paycheck,
the new car…..
And you want it so bad, you can taste it.
And you realize that anything worthwhile requires LOTS of hard work and when you first signed on you thought to youself, “Psh, I got this!”
And you signed on to put in that work. And you did.
And you have.
You’ve worked hard, sacrificed sleep, sacrificed time doing other things like binge watching Netflix and going out for ice cream with friends
All for the sake of staying in and working on your dream. Your goal.
That’s exactly what I asked myself in front of that mirror tonight.
What …..am I doing wrong?
The truth is, success doesn’t happen overnight (or over the course of 5 days).
It’s a journey.
A long, really hard…….. journey.
And if we give up too soon, we miss out.
In Galatians 6:9, we are reminded that
At just the right time, we will reap a harvest of blessing, if we don’t give up.
Don’t give up, in whatever it is you have your eyes set on.
Don’t Give Up.
It’s frustrating for me to see that the numbers haven’t changed when I’ve been doing so much to try and enact that change. And it would be o so easy to lose heart, right out of the gate, and give up.
But I can’t. And I won’t. And you shouldn’t either. Why?
Because if it was easy, EVERYONE would be doing it, wouldn’t they?
There’s an article out on Forbes.com that backs up the statement that 8 out of 10 new business ventures fail within the first 18 months. Over 80%.
Why? Because it’s not easy.
Same goes for why of all those members of MLMs like Young Living, less than 1% ever reach a rank worth quitting their day job over.
Success takes more than work. It takes perseverance and consistency.
And as Angela Duckworth will tell you, it takes GRIT.
Something not a lot of people have.
Which makes grit all the more valuable.
What I’m saying is, you have a choice.
And I have a choice.
You can quit, and really, anyone can do that.
But to be a winner….
To be SUCCESSFUL…..
You’re going to need to stand out. Stick around.
Be different. BE the 1%.
Decide today to show up one more day, and then one more week, and then one more month and keep going.
And for me, tonight was still a success. It’s just all in perspective.
It was proof that I can stick to something five days.
And I know I’m capable of so much more.
Success will come, I’m sure of it.
I just have to keep working for it.
