Have you ever hit a major goal and then had to take a break? Have you ever been working so hard to lose weight, get that promotion, graduate from school, or get out of debt that by the time all that long, hard work paid off that you felt you needed a long rest to recover? Because I have. Because today, I got serious about blogging.
Today, I re-evaluated what I was doing.
In terms of my blog. My business. And my goals.
Because 2019 has already been SUCH A BLESSING. God is good and I want to sing it from the rooftops.
But if I’m honest with you? 2019? It’s also been …TOUGH.
You Worked So Hard But Now You’re Tired
Running my own business? It’s been tough.
Running a household and raising 6 kids while also running a blog? Super tough! And I’m tired.
Yesterday, I reached my goal of having more page views in just this 1st quarter of 2019 than I had in ALL OF 2018. And let’s not even think about 2017 when I started my blog. Ugh! I’ve come SO FAR. But only by the grace of God, and a whole lot of work. This blog has been a work in progress.
Hitting more page views came simultaneously with me publishing my 100th BLOG POST!!! And I was SO STOKED. So excited!
But in the midst of hitting such a big goal, I also knew I needed to stop and take a breather.
Which is why I needed to stop for a moment. And evaluate.

Serious About Blogging After I Published My 100th Blog Post
Where are you? Where are you going from here? These are all necessary questions to answer when you meet failure- or success. In the army, they called it sustains and improves. Where did you do well, and what could you improve upon?
I’ve learned SO MUCH on this work from home journey, so much. But I also know the road here wasn’t easy. It was filled with failure after failures. So when I had a friend call me this weekend to discuss a MAJOR OPPORTUNITY for my business- I was FLOORED! I mean, WOW!
Not just at his offer of an opportunity of a lifetime- which is HUGE (More on that coming in April!!!) But because he said this about my business.
Hitting all those goals? Putting in all this work and FINALLY seeing progress!?!?!
I’ve TURNED A CORNER.
Turned a corner
Because for the past FIVE YEARS I’ve been struggling.
Working From Home Meant Freedom and I was a Struggling Single Mom
I didn’t exactly choose to work from home because I wanted to. I started working from home because I absolutely HAD to. There was no way out.
Five years ago, I was struggling to get my life together after becoming a single mom almost overnight.
The transition changed everything for me and my kids.
Whereas I’d spent almost six years as stay at home mom, running a household and caring for my five kids, suddenly all that changed. And I was forced to find a job and bring in an income. And I was struggling.
Struggling to put food on the table. Struggling to become self sufficient. I was also struggling to launch a business from home- which was my only way out from under the staggering bill that was daycare expenses.
I Started a Work From Home Business and Blog Out of Necessity
For YEARS my childcare expense? More than my RENT. More than most people’s MORTGAGE.
And I couldn’t keep doing that.
But I also wasn’t willing to wait, living off the generosity of others and the GOVERNMENT while my kids aged into the public school system. NOPE!
So I launched my at home business. One after another and another. I launched more or less 6 businesses over the course of 5 years.
But I failed. I FAILED.
Again and again and again.
And I ended up during SEVERAL SEASONS working FOUR JOBS to try and make ends meet. And it almost killed me, quite literally.
I am only here because GOD SAVED ME. At my lowest point, despite my failures, despite my undeservingness, God SAVED ME.
God Has a Plan for You and A Purpose for Your Life
The reason I’m still here is God still has a plan for me. He has a purpose for my life, just as He has a purpose for your life. And if you don’t act on that, then it’s a gift wasted. For me, I’m done doing that.
You’ve got to learn from your failures. And you know what? Chances are that if you keep going, you’re going to keep failing. Not because you’re a failure, but because failure is how you learn!
It’s just a part of life.
But instead of giving up, if you want to succeed, you’ve got to keep going and KEEP LEARNING. Which is what is going to make all the difference.
So today, I decided to learn from my failures. And I re-evaluated. My blog and my goals. And where I’m going. Because things are going to continue to change FOR THE BETTER. And 2019 is just the beginning.
And… in the midst of my re-evaluation? I deleted SEVERAL posts from my blog. 😔😭 And I’m about to start re-writing several more. Making them better. And if you’ve started a blog and have several posts, at some point, you’ll probably want to do the same.
I had 100. Now I’m down to maybe in the 80s. And I’m only even marketing to about 20.
You get rid of what’s not working, and focus on what is. What’s working, what’s driving traffic? Evaluate and keep going.
Get Better, Not Bitter. Learn From Your Failures
Get better. Learn from your failures. And don’t give up.
If you’ve considered working from home, you’re not going to want to miss what’s coming up. Not just the incredible blog posts I’ve already drafted and am currently perfecting. I’m talking about what’s coming next. BIG THINGS. Coming in April and beyond.
Because 2019? It’s going GREAT. And it’s about to get EVEN BETTER.
Blessings are best shared. So I’m being a blessing. I’m about sharing what I know. What’s worked. What hasn’t. Because I struggled far too long trying to piece too much together. And I don’t ever want ANYONE to go through the struggles I have when there’s a BETTER, SIMPLER WAY.
This is it. So if you’re ready for something incredible, ready to start your own journey working from home, impacting others, giving generously, and being able to prioritze what’s most important TO YOU, let’s do this.
